The Boston New Works Project

The Boston New Works Project

The Boston New Works Project is no longer accepting submissions.

Moonbox is now officially welcoming proposals from Massachusetts residents for new live performance projects! Do you have an idea for a theatrical piece that you would like to develop? This is your chance to pitch your idea and make it happen! Projects proposed in this first round will be reviewed by our panel, and those selected will have the opportunity to be cultivated in the coming months and compete to become a New Works Finalist. Our Finalists will then have several months to workshop their projects for production in the Boston New Works Festival which is being targeted to be held at the Calderwood Pavilion during the 2021-2022 theater season!

While the majority of the projects ultimately selected for production at the Festival will be in the vein of traditional live theater (straight or musical, full length, one-act or 10 minute), we will also be soliciting and curating a selection of new short-subject films (under 20 minutes in length), and are open to considering projects that may not fit any of these categories.

Moonbox encourages artists of all backgrounds to submit proposals.  This includes individuals who identify as LGBTQA+, BIPOC, Deaf, Hard-of-Hearing, DeafBlind, and persons living with Disability.

Please note – Moonbox is committed to ensuring accessibility for Deaf, Hard-of-Hearing, DeafBlind, and persons living with Disabilities at every stage of this project.
