Kara Crumrine

Director of Community & Accessibility Initiatives

Kara, a DeafBlind Intervenor for Northeast Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services, came to Moonbox six years go to help implement and coordinate the company’s Community Initiatives. Committed to and passionate about accessibility and Deaf Education, she gained valuable experience as a teaching assistant in the DeafBlind program at Perkins School for the Blind in Watertown, MA. Kara studied Speech Language Pathology and Deaf Studies at the University of New Hampshire at Durham, and received a degree in American Sign Language/English Interpreting from the University of New Hampshire at Manchester. Currently, Kara is furthering her interpreting skills in the Graduation to Certification program with St. Catherine University’s CAITIE Center.  Kara’s Boston interpreting and ASL assistant credits include the 2019 Annual Green Concert (Boston Landmark Orchestra), Once, Flashdance (Broadway in Boston), Hairspray (Wheelock Family Theatre), A New Brain and The Rocky Horror Show (Moonbox Productions). She has also served as accessibility consultant and ASL coordinator for Commonwealth Shakespeare Company’s 2016 summer production of Love Labour’s Lost. She resides with her husband Phil, and their two children Gabriel and Marietta in New Hampshire.
